In honour of the teachings of BKS Iyengar I have decided to post a photo or video for 100 days to celebrate his 100 birthday.  I still have much to learn but through him, his teachings and his family and teachers my life has changed. So with much gratitude to him and the Iyengar family I begin...

Tadasana - mountain pose
Feet together and also used blocks between feet and thighs and belt for upper body. Props brings awareness and helps with correct alignment. 🙏

 
DAY 1 - 100 Days of Celebrating BKS Iyengar
Tadasana
"Once we master tadasana, then all other poses come."
Beginning of journey from outer body inward.

I have done many workshops where Tadasana was all we worked on. When you see this pose in all other poses you will understand why.
Standing poses help to bring the practioner into the body and become aware of their limbs. This pose teaches stability, mobility, lightness and how to bring energy into the body. When align the legs and use and strengthen the legs properly can take strain off the back.
